District Governor Rowley Tompsett and Denise were our special guest this week.
We were the 14th club Rowley and Denise have visited since the District Changeover and they both looked as though they enjoy every minute of their visit. Denise celebrated her birthday with us and of course there was a cake with candle to make the night special.
Rowley spoke on how Rotary clubs can work together with other clubs to achieve great outcomes and used Polio Plus as an example. One mans’ vision to eradicate polio has seen Rotary clubs around the world raise over 1 billion dollars.
This year’s District Conference will be a combined conference with D9675 and will be held in Canberra. Rowley encourages members to attend with a special sweetener for new members with no conference fee charge. He also hopes that Canberra members will open their homes over the Conference weekend to make the conference affordable for all ‘out of town’ members.
Like all District Governor’s, Rowley is passionate about TRF and good that Rotary’s charity does around the world.
In closing, Rowley encourage members to attend the Rotary Learning Initiative.
